Steven Moffat is one of the greatest humans on earth.
Quick survey: List some of the best Doctor Who episodes. Empty Child/Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace, and Blink. I wonder who wrote those... Oh! It's Steven Moffat. He also wrote Time Crash (the children in need special where the doctor meets Peter Davidson) and Curse of the Fatal Death. Not to mention Jekyll.
Seriously, this man is brilliant; Silence in the Library is shaping up to be brilliant as well, especially the whole River Song business. |

I now own a 52 inch LCD TV. It looks fantastic. I am busy plugging everything back in, so bear with me. I will most likely not be going to gamenight, but feel free to drop by my apartment if you want to witness the glory. |

| New case |

My new computer case arrived today, it's fucking gigantic! Seriously. It's about a 10 inches wide and almost two feet tall. It's amazingly quieter than my old case. I thought the fans were broken when I turned it on because it was so quiet. It's also better at cooling.
Here are some temperatures for comparison:
My old case: CPU: 37º C Motherboard: 45º C GPU: 64º C
My new case: CPU: 33º C Motherboard: 41º C GPU: 58º C
4-6 degree difference across the board. I'm impressed.
In other news, I have a three day weekend again with have Monday off... paid. Which means for 8 hours on Monday, anything I do I will be getting paid to do. Boo yaa.
If anyone is interested in seeing Narnia, I would like to see it and feel slightly awkward going by myself. Perhaps we will make a day of it. Hell, if anyone wants to see Indy 4 I wouldn't mind seeing it again... I'd even pay to see it again. |

I just finished Jekyll. Excellent, excellent series. I enjoyed it mightily. Next I'll watch all those little one off shows I have like Bruiser, Unnatural Acts, Brass Eye, et cetera; after which I'll probably move to Vicar of Dibley, then (depending on my mood) either Firefly or Dead Like Me (i.e. something American).
In other news, Dad and I were looking at different HDTVs and we managed to find one for $100 more than I was originally going to spend but 6 inches larger. By the end of June I will be the proud owner of a 52" HDTV. I'll probably have to rearrange the furniture in the living room. I think I'll be putting the coffee/dining table in storage and putting the couch against that wall. If we need to use a table, we can just put the card table in front of the futon.
All things considered, I am doing quite well in my life and I feel awesome. Physically I feel fantastic, I feel stronger, healthier, and more energetic, in addition to which I can hold my breath for upwards of a minute and a half. Mentally I am happy.
Also of note: I was being flirted with hardcore at work today. A girl from the MP lab who was, unfortunately, not hot; however she did laugh at fart jokes. I must say, it does feel good to know that my attractiveness isn't limited to just Mandy. |

So I'm thinking of purchasing a 46" HDTV. This one to be exact. This also means I'll have to buy a new entertainment cabinet and whatnot. All in all I'm looking to spend around $2,500 for this whole malarkey. I'm not going to do it today, I'll probably go to Costco with the parents to get these items... although I don't know where I'm going to put the old TV and entertainment system... I will solve that issue when it arises.
Watching more Jekyll now, it's excellent. The redhead is hot...
What should I watch after this? |

So as avid readers of my livejournal, I'm sure you all know that last night I finished The Science of Discworld III. I bring this up again as I come home from work today and check the mail; what is inside but a package from Amazon.co.uk. Joy! Upon opening it I reveal the treasure hidden within: The Pirates in an Adventure with Napoleon and Odd and the Frost Giants. Truly perfect timing. I shall read and enjoy the pirates novel.
Also, Trader Joe's Roasted Tomato Salsa is the most fantastic salsa I have ever tasted. It's not like crappy "Pace" sauce and it has a superb, almost barbecue sauce, aftertaste.
That is all. |

| Memorial Day |
|
|
| 11:03pm 26/05/2008 |

Ah, Memorial Day. A day in which we remember our fallen comrades in the Galactic Civil War. My condolences to Biggs Darklighter and his family.
Today I woke up and Mark came over to collect a key to Dillon Beach since he may or may not have locked himself out. He also collected Mandy's old G5 which is just perfect since I just purchased a new computer case. It's going to be fantastic as I will put all of my old parts back into my old case and just have it sitting over at Mandy's desk for such things as dedicated servers or long term storage. Perhaps even folding at home or SETI.
After Mark left, I finished up Green Wing (excellent series, it's interesting seeing Mark Heap's character's descent into insanity) then I went over to the 'rents to do laundry and play GTA and the such. Around 3 I got hungry and went to Burger King with Yoshi, not before stopping off at Trader Joe's to get some salsa and then (since we were in the area) spending $21 on candy at Powell's.
At 10 I left and came back here to do some more reading/watching. I finished The Science of Discworld III which means I have officially read every Discworld book that is still in print (that I know of). I'm now going to move back over to my Star Wars books since I've neglected them for far too long (there have been at least 2 more books in the series that I am reading and 1 other book on its own that have been published in the time I've been away).
I downloaded Unnatural Acts and will probably watch an episode or two before going to bed tonight. Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding FTW. After that I'll probably switch over to Jekyll until I've finished that with a smattering of Young Indiana Jones.
In case you didn't know, I am the proud owner of a loofah and two (yes two) different scents of body wash. I prefer to inject some whimsy into my bathing experience. One does not know whether the night will bring a mango mandarin madness or a cucumber melon insanity. Truly truly whimsical.
Right, well, I'm off to go watch some Unnatural Acts.

Free time...
What do I do?
I'm not used to this. I got off of work at 5:30 on Friday. I have a 3 day weekend. What do I do?
So far I've done the following:
- I've played TF2.
- I've played GTA4.
- I've played On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One.
- I watched the first episode of Jekyll, I enjoyed it. I will continue with the series.
- I watched the first episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, I enjoyed it. I will continue with the series.
- I watched the first 4 episodes of Green Wing, I enjoyed them. I will continue with the series. Mark Heap makes me pee with laughter.
- I had to purchase lunch and dinner. I didn't enjoy it. I will continue having others pay for my meals.
All in all, I have over 52 hours worth of TV to watch. There isn't enough time.
I'm not used to having all this time to do stuff. I keep flip flopping from one thing to another. I can't stay doing one thing for longer than like an hour. I think I need a laptop so I can comfortably watch TV shows in bed... perhaps a series of mirrors would be cheaper.
I also found out today that you can plug your iPod into the Xbox and listen to it in GTA. Fantastic. Furthermore, I am saddened by the lack of Doctor Who, but since I have all these other British shows to watch, I'll survive until the next episode.
Well I'm off to the store to purchase bread, cheese, salami, and soda. |

Overtime has slowed down considerably (leaving at 9PM now!), so I've taken up watching things that have been sitting on my hard drive for an inordinate amount of time.
I don't know if you guys have heard of this show, but Pushing Daisies is an incredible show. It's so cute and sad and funny at the same time. I absolutely love it. They could have totally done something entirely morbid and dark with it, but it isn't. The whole color scheme and dichotomy between death and pie reminds me of Edward Scissor hands. This has been on my hard drive since October of '07.
Next up I will watch Green Wing. It has been on my hard drive since August of '07.
Then, who knows. Advice?
Also, one of the audio engineers on TFU has a cyberman model. He is my new best friend, but he doesn't know it yet.
Furthermore, I try to say HTML/CSS sometimes. It gets especially bad when I attempt yelling at someone by saying "<b style="font-size:72pt;">WORDS</b>".
In addition to that, I tend to try to end sentences (or terminate them) in a semicolon...
One last thing, I've put 10 of my favorite songs from GTA IV on my iPod. This will most certainly not end well. Look for me on the news!
Oh yes, a few weeks ago the marketing guy from LucasArts gathered all the people who are working on TFU and put them in the MP lab, he said we're going to be in a magazine. I'll be the one wearing pink and looking like I hadn't slept... because I hadn't.
Apparently I enjoy typing as this was just going to be me mentioning that I've started watching Pushing Daisies.
Also, I've come to notice I have a very distinct way of talking... You see, I believe that there is only one word that accurately describes any given situation and I strive to use them. When confronted with a word I do not know, I will research it and consequently add it to my vocabulary. For instance: brephophagist; it means one who eats babies. I thought this would hardly come up in conversation, until I saw Pan's Labyrinth. I also seem to usually paraphrase things in a more verbose/easily punned manner.
I believe that is all. |

Ok! For anyone who wants to know, today is Mandy's birthday and there's gonna be a shindig (or hootenanny depending on the magnitude of certain variables). The plans are as follows:
- See Run Fat Boy, Run, which is showing at Northgate at 7:25 and 9:50... I'm fairly certain we're aiming for the 7:25 showing with the 9:50 being the backup plan.
- Play an inordinate amount of Descent: Road to Legend. The rules for which are right here. Since they weigh in at 34 pages, we should all get cracking on them so the explanation phase of the game goes as fast as possible.
- Optional: Sleep.
- Presents?
I'm fairly certain anyone who wants to be a part of this shindig (or hootenanny) is invited, especially since Descent requires 4 heroes and 1 overlord. |

So... Prof. T. Just came by and gave me a copy of Assassin's Creed for PC. Is this not one of the prettiest screenshots to ever be running at 60FPS on my computer?
In other news, I downloaded That Mitchell and Webb look today in 6 minutes flat. |
